About this event
Birmingham’s Steel City Jug Slammers are rolling into town to show us why NPR chose to feature them, and why they have continued to sweep awards at numerous National Jug Band competitions. Before you realize it, you will convince yourself that you have returned to another era when old-timey music acts stepped off the train to charm a cabaret audience with the blow of a jug, the pluck of a washtub bass, the twang of a banjo, and other unique homemade instruments. Come see for yourself why these young artists, who are passionate about keeping a genre of music from another era alive, were inducted into the Jug Band Hall of Fame in 2017 and have been invited to share the stage with Dom Flemons, Old Crow Medicine Show, Rebirth Brass Band, Molly Tuttle and more. The band felt honored to be invited to help celebrate the life and music of Pete Seeger for his 100th birthday hootenanny. HTMA Opener: The January coffeehouse will open with longtime north Alabama artists Marylyn and Mike (Marylyn Coffey and Mike Perry) who duet often around town. Their set is guaranteed to bring out grins in the audience. Seating capacity is limited - tickets at the door will not be available if capacity is reached.
