HTMA - Music of John Prine

THE MUSIC OF JOHN PRINE

HTMA invites you to celebrate 60 years of enjoying and supporting traditional music forms in the Tennessee Valley.

The evening will feature HTMA members Kay and Don Corder performing the Music of John Prine at 6:30 PM.

Please plan to arrive at 5:30 and join us for a Social Hour featuring hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks. You are welcome to BYOB your favorite drink.

Admission is free.

Steel City Jug Slammers - HTMA

Birmingham’s Steel City Jug Slammers are rolling into town to show us why NPR chose to feature them, and why they have continued to sweep awards at numerous National Jug Band competitions. Before you realize it, you will convince yourself that you have returned to another era when old-timey music acts stepped off the train to charm a cabaret audience with the blow of a jug, the pluck of a washtub bass, the twang of a banjo, and other unique homemade instruments. The Ancient Tones

HTMA SPECIAL CONCERT

Blending genres like Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Newgrass and Jazz, The Ancient Tones create a unique sound that resonates with fans across a wide spectrum of audiences.

With influences such as JD Crowe, Merle Haggard, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Flatt & Scruggs and Vassar Clements, they are known for their solid harmonies and blazing instrumentals.

All HTMA events are held at Lowe Mill, room 1038 on the 1st floor of the north wing unless otherwise noted. This includes the Coffeehouse Series,  all jam sessions, and a new Behind the Music Series.

Directions: Enter the parking lot by driving thru the gated entrance. Drive along the parking lot past doors 1, 2, and 3. The doors have large yellow signs with numbers on them. Park and enter door #4. Walk straight ahead about 15 yards, just past a video arcade store. Then turn right down the long narrow hallway. The studio is about halfway down the hall (room #1038).

Jazz Guitar 101

January 17th at 11am

A 2 hour class for guitarists new or somewhat new to jazz. Topics include chord shapes, comping, soloing.

Admission is complimentary.

This event will be held on the 4th Saturday each month Through December at the NEW HTMA Studio at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment located on Seminole Drive.

FREE And Easy Total Beginner Ukulele Class  Do you know anyone who has always wanted to learn ukulele?

Here is a FREE And Easy Absolute Beginner Ukulele Class   Adults and children ages 10 and above welcome.   No ukulele needed.  We have extra ukuleles for you to use during the class.  

In our Free 45 minute class, professional FUNsician Kirk Jones will teach you how to  play basic chords and easy songs to help start you on your ukulele journey. We will provide materials that you can take home with you to practice.

This monthly event is held in the NEW HTMA Studio at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment located on Seminole Drive from 11am to 12pm.
